I'm Idrissa and this is my hero

Idrissa lives and works as a journalist in Guinea.

My hero is my grandmother, Hadja Rouguiatou Niane. She is my mother's mother.

When I was little, she went to my father's family to get my birth certificate. She needed that to enroll me in school. My father's family refused under the pretext that this was their responsibility, not hers. So she went home and waited all year assuming my uncles would enroll me. When her patience was not rewarded, she enrolled me anyway in 1993 by herself, without any document! And it worked out! I am who I am today, thanks to God, but also thanks to her. May Allah have mercy on her soul.
